Sandy Point Nature Reserve
Nature, Hayling Island
Sandy Point is a nature reserve at the south-eastern tip of Hayling Island, managed by Hampshire County Council. The sand and shingle spit extends into the entrance of Chichester Harbour and supports rare coastal plants, nesting little terns, and ringed plovers. Access is restricted during the breeding season (April to August) to protect ground-nesting birds. Outside the restricted period, the point offers views across the harbour entrance towards East Head and West Wittering. The reserve is an important site for coastal ecology.
