Hollow Lane
Street guide, Hayling Island
Hollow Lane runs through the central part of Hayling Island, a winding lane that retains something of the island's older, rural character. The lane is narrow in places, with hedgerows and glimpses of farmland that recall the agricultural landscape that once covered the entire island. Housing along Hollow Lane is a mix of older properties and some newer development, with larger plots and gardens than the more densely developed streets further south. The lane connects the main road network to the quieter parts of the island's interior and is used by walkers and cyclists as well as local traffic. Hollow Lane has the feel of a country road that has been absorbed into a residential area without entirely losing its rural character.
