Park Road South

Street guide, Hayling Island

Park Road South runs from the Mengham area towards the seafront, connecting the residential streets to the beach. The road takes its name from its position near the former Butlins holiday park, which occupied a large site near the seafront from the 1930s until its closure in 2009. The road is residential, with a mix of bungalows and houses. Park Road South provides one of the main routes from the island's interior to the beach, and in summer it carries a steady flow of traffic heading for the seafront car parks. The former Butlins site has been partly redeveloped, and the area around Park Road South continues to evolve as new housing replaces the holiday camp infrastructure.
